Getting The Most Out Of Facebook

I hate to admit I've been on the net long enough to see the interest in social media sites grow from nothing to its current state of common usage. The earliest social media sites I remember were actually pre-internet. These were computer sites that hosted Bulletin Boards called BBS for short. Each one had a dedicated phone number. I can remember having huge lists of BBS numbers that I could dial up on a modem to read and type information on. The Internet changed all that and the BBS eventually became a company website, blog or in the case of AOL a huge ISP.

It took me a while to understand the value of social media sites primarily because early dedicated social media sites like MySpace were frequented not by business people, but predominantly young kids. Their importance really hit me one time a few years back when I attempted to get on the Internet one afternoon in a public library. I couldn't get near a computer because it was late afternoon and the library was packed with Teens clamoring to get on MySpace after school.

That's when it finally became obvious to me that the Internet was not just a place to hang a sign or place a bulletin. It was now a place where you develop relationships with other people. We shouldn't be surprised that this fact was first discovered by teens. After all, who cares more about meeting other people than teenagers?

Fast forward to today and you see businesses using social media at an exponentially growing rate. And why not? Who else is second only to teenagers in wanting to build relationships other than business owners clamoring for clients and customers!

The real question today is not whether you should use it, but what site or sites you should use and how you should implement your marketing plan. It turns out that Facebook has some very specific features that give it an advantage over other sites like Twitter or MySpace. In addition Facebook's growth has taken it past the reach of MySpace's 100+ million users to well over 200 million unique users worldwide.

So where can you get good information on the best way to use Facebook for your business?

I've recently been working with Robert Grant on the launch of his new Crowd Conversion website. Robert is an expert at converting Facebook friends into paying customers. He's managed to produce nearly $500,000 in income from Facebook in the last year alone. Robert has released some great videos about using Facebook. I've been looking at his work very closely, he's a excellent teacher and I highly recommend his material. I'm implementing many of his strategies right now. What's even better is you can get much of the information for FREE in you act quickly.

Take a moment now and watch his Social Media Blueprint video. You won't regret it.
