Everyday most businesses face a ton of problems. It would be rare day indeed if everything went as we had planned. We usually have close associates that we go to for advice. Much of the time we may do this without really thinking about the process.
I believe Napoleon Hill may have been the first to coin the term Master Mind when he discovered all successful people surround themselves with a group of highly skilled associates that they can trust and consult with on the most important and confidential decisions regarding their businesses. It's no accident that the leaders of the most powerful countries follow this format by surrounding themselves with a hand picked group of people to help with difficult decisions.
So what would happen if we really put some thought and planning into choosing a group to help us in our business? Have you ever considered what traits a powerful Master Mind might have for your business? Many small businesses try to skimp on this process fearing excessive cost or loss of independence. However, research has shown time and again that flying solo can be a disaster.
Mr. Hill defines his concept of the Master Mind in Chapter 10 of Think And Grow Rich. The traits of your Master Mind should be in harmony with your visions and aspirations. You should always pick people you can trust and communicate with easily. Finally, they should all have skills that enhance your business needs.
While this may seem obvious in hindsight, you may be surprised if you look around and discover how many people are close to you who do not meet these qualifications. Taking steps daily to devalue those negative influences and enhance those positive ones will build your power to succeed in your business and life at a surprising rate.
One of my favorite success stories is this video Dan Kennedy released of Alexandria Brown discussing how her thinking and business changed as she came under the influence of the Master Mind principal. You can view it here.
