Have You Talked to Abe (Lincoln) Lately?

Today is President's Day in the USA. It falls close to Abraham Lincoln's birthday and was originally his holiday alone. Mr. Lincoln clearly had a profound influence on our lives here and perhaps the whole world. He presided during a turbulent time and had to face many problems no other US president ever had to deal with. To have accomplished all he did indicates that he was clearly a great statesman.

However the purpose of this post is not to talk about Mr. Lincoln's accomplishments. They stand on their own however you view them. The subject that comes to mind when I think of Mr. Lincoln is that of having hero or role model from history that you can admire, study and emulate to improve your own accomplishments in life.

I have been discussing Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich lately because in spite of being written at the beginning of the last century it really has become more timely information than
ever before in many years. Chapter 14 is what I consider as the oddest chapter in the book. Mr. Hill discusses how he used his imagination to shape his own success and life by imitating 9 people he admired most. It should be no surprise that one of these people was Abraham Lincoln.

His discussion of the power of the Sixth Sense and using it to connect with the Infinite Intelligence of the Universal Mind is illustrated in some detail by describing his own imaginary meetings with a "Council of 9" that included Mr. Lincoln. At times, this chapter reads a little more like a science fiction story from the Twilight Zone than a practical guide to success. But when taken in context with the concepts Mr. Hill was trying to drive home, you understand that developing your imagination and your sixth sense can be a very powerful tool to achieving success.

So the next time you're feeling a bit overwhelmed with your business or finances, why not find a quiet place to relax and discuss it with Abe or someone else you greatly admire. You might actually get an answer to your questions!

Happy Birthday Abe...
